We all know Super Bowl Sunday is the best time for advertisers to create the most effective and entertaining commercials. The question is what does it take to produce a commercial that people will remember? I feel that the commercials people usually remember are the ones that are funny and or have celebrities. One advertisement that includes both of those features is the Hyundai Genesis commercial with comedian Kevin Hart. Not only is it funny because of Kevin Hart and his hilarious facial expressions, but it also has a storyline that will stick in your mind even after the game is over. Kevin Hart’s daughter in the commercial goes on a first date with a young man and Kevin allows the boy to take his car, the Hyundai Genesis. Meanwhile, Hart has the car’s cool feature called car finder that allows him to track their date. He then follows them everywhere scaring the boy and eventually jeopardizes the boy’s chances of being with his daughter. This advertisement makes you laugh, but also makes you sympathize for the young man. It is an emotionally engaging commercial and one you cannot forget. Another reason this commercial is a success is because it attracts any audience. I was in a room full of adults, kids, teenagers, and elders with this commercial aired, and we all were smiling and laughing. This demonstrates a high quality commercial that is widely liked and provides a narrative that will keep one’s attention. Besides the enjoyment of the ad’s storyline, the ad also has an appealing product. The Hyundai Genesis is an admirable vehicle and the car finder feature just adds more reason to buying the car. However, for people to want the car the commercial has to be extravagant and this Super Bowl commercial was exactly that.
